Vincent Van Gogh was born to Dutch parents on March 30, 1853, in the village of Zundert, Netherlands. His life began a journey that would profoundly reshape the art world. Van Gogh symbolized artistic passion and struggle, inspiring generations of artists and art enthusiasts.

His family profoundly influenced Van Gogh’s artistic journey. His mother, Anna Cornelia Carbentus, instilled in him a love for watercolors, nature, and drawing. His father, Theodorus van Gogh, raised the family in the austere rural countryside. Van Gogh was born exactly one year after the passing of their first son, Vincent, a fact that had a profound emotional impact on him. Despite these early struggles, Van Gogh’s art reflected his deep compassion and understanding of the world around him.

The reality of his life purpose became clear to Vincent only after he began painting in his late twenties. Through his self-taught pursuit of art knowledge, he studied art even though he received minimal training in the work of classic artists and his fellow artists. In his initial works, Van Gogh painted sober colors that depicted rural scenes and peasants while expressing deep compassion towards the countryside inhabitants.

The brothers Van Gogh moved to Paris in 1886 with Theo, who worked as an art dealer. This move marked a significant turning point in Van Gogh’s artistic career. In Paris, he was exposed to the vibrant art world and the works of French impressionists like Claude Monet and Georges Seurat. Their use of bright, vibrant colors and innovative brushwork profoundly influenced Van Gogh’s artistic style, leading him to abandon his former technique of using dim colors in his initial works and adopt a more joyful, vibrant approach.

The creation of his widely acclaimed “Sunflowers” series proved to be his major artistic breakthrough throughout that time. During his time, Van Gogh produced revolutionary brushwork combined with sunflowers’ vivid yellow tones.
